The Secret Ingredients

Okay, it’s maybe not so secret as it can be found on the Zax sauce packet. But it’s important that you have mayonnaise and Worcestershire sauce if you want to make it taste like the real thing. So, that means no substitutes!
What is Worcestershire Sauce

For those who are unaware, Worcestershire (pronounced as wu·stuh·shr) sauce is a fermented condiment made from vinegar, molasses, anchovies, garlic, tamarind extract, and chili pepper extract, among other things. It’s a unique blend of sweet, sour, and spicy, with an umami flavor from the anchovies and soy.
Quality is Key
No matter how simple a recipe is, there’s still a chance of things not turning out right. This happens especially when you skimp on the quality of ingredients used. For this recipe, it’s really important that you use top-quality Worcestershire sauce and authentic mayonnaise.
We recommend using Duke’s real smooth and creamy mayo or Blue Plate mayo. Unless you want your dip to taste overly sweet, you’d want to use the real thing. Anything that says real mayo would suffice. None of that Miracle Whip!
Zaxby’s Chicken Dipping Sauce (Zax Sauce) Recipe

Makes: 1 ½ Cup of Sauce Serves: 4-6
Ingredients |
1 Cup Real Mayonnaise |
½ Cup Ketchup |
1 ½ teaspoons Black Pepper |
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder/Garlic Salt |
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce |
Instructions |
1. With a fork or whisk, mix all the ingredients (except the pepper) in a bowl. |
2. Add the pepper in small amounts while tasting it. Feel free to add more pepper than recommended in the recipe. But you don’t want your sauce to end up tasting too spicy, so tasting while seasoning is required. |
3. When you’re happy with the taste, leave it in the fridge to set for at least 3 hours before using. It tastes even better when you leave it overnight. |
4. Make sure to store this mayo-based sauce properly in the fridge or it’ll turn back quickly. |
