The History of Panda Express USA
In 1973, a Chinese restaurant, Panda Inn, was founded by Andrew Cherng and Master Chef Ming-Tsai Cherng in Pasadena, California. The restaurant quickly became a popular dining spot due to the unique menu items that were inspired by many Mandarin and Sichuan recipes.
After managing Panda Inn restaurant for a decade, Andrew Cherng launched the first Panda Express in Glendale, California. The operating system of the restaurant was improvised by Peggy Cherng to ensure quality food and services. With an extensive and expanding fan base, more and more Panda Express franchises were launched within the borders of USA.
The founders of Panda Express are keen on giving back to the society in which they belong. Hence, in 1999, they launched Panda Cares, which is a charity organization that offers food, funds, and volunteering services to disaster relief and children’s organizations.
In 2011, the first Panda Express global restaurant was launched in Mexico City. This milestone was immediately followed by the mushrooming of franchises in other countries, such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Canada, and so on. To date, there are more than 1,750 Panda Express outlets across the world.
