If you’ve recently joined the cruelty-free cause in vegan eating, it doesn’t mean you have to give up Chipotle. While fast-food places aren’t the most accommodating to those with a vegan lifestyle, the Tex-Mex chain does not turn its back on herbivorous folk.

Who says we have to miss out on good food?

Well, many people do. But it’s not as troubling as they might think. An increasing number of vegans and vegetarians have surfaced over the years, prompting fast-food restaurants to make strides.

Chipotle offers vegan/vegetarian options

Ordering plant-based from mainstream eateries can be stressful, especially when they’re largely meat-centric. Nonetheless, Chipotle offers many vegan varieties on Chipotle menu and prices. You can also go for almost anything and devise a fulfilling meal without the meats and cheeses.

As you may know, the main entrees comprise burritos, tacos, burrito bowls and more. Customers don’t have to settle for all-veggie fillings because Chipotle has protein-packed alternatives.

First, there’s a quinoa medley, a blend of red and gold quinoa, cumin, chopped cilantro with citrus juice. Another more popular choice is the Sofritas, which is shredded tofu braised with Chipotle peppers, roasted poblanos, and spices.

How to order vegan at Chipotle

The delightful thing about Chipotle is that you can order the same way as everyone else and not feel alienated. Here’s how it goes

1. Base

Choose a base between these options: burrito, burrito bowl, soft or crispy taco, or salad. If your diet bends towards health-conscious, we suggest opting for the burrito bowl, eliminating extra calories from the tortilla.

Even if you want a flour or corn tortilla, rest assured they are both vegan-friendly.

2. Toppings

Next is the fun part. Add one of the vegan/vegetarian proteins, whether it be the Sofritas, quinoa, or black and pinto beans. The beans are incredibly dense with protein and seasoned with garlic, onions and fragrant spices.

There are two types of rice to choose from: brown and white cilantro-lime rice. Top it with other vegan selections such as mixed fajita vegetables (sautéed bell peppers), salsas, lettuce, and guacamole.

3. Sides

You can pair your meal with a side of tortilla chips, which goes remarkably well with guac and salsa. Take a look at all the different salsas below:

  • Fresh Tomato Salsa
  • Tomatillo Red Salsa
  • Roasted Chili-Corn Salsa
  • Green Chili Salsa

Yes, you read that right. Did you know that there is a Miley Cyrus-inspired vegan burrito at Chipotle?

Back in December 2020, Cyrus replied to Chipotle’s “If Miley Cyrus comments, I’ll…” trend participation. The singer granted them permission to birth a Miley burrito, as long as they name it the ‘Guac Is Extra But So Is Miley Burrito.’

In case you didn’t know, the pop star is a longtime vegan. Chipotle asked for her regular order, including white rice, black beans, fajita vegetables, romaine lettuce, tomatillo-red salsa, corn salsa, chilli salsa and guacamole.

Patrons can now order the entirely plant-based burrito for $8.75 on the Chipotle app
